Australian racing star Alex Ninovic has notched up his eighth victory of the 2025 GB3 Championship season, despite a cheeky 10-second penalty for a jump start at Donington Park. Starting from second on the grid, the 17-year-old Rodin Motorsport driver blasted past pole-sitter Reza Seewooruthun to take the lead and never looked back. With a blistering pace, Ninovic extended his advantage to over 10 seconds, nullifying the penalty and crossing the line 1.131 seconds ahead.
The Melbourne-born talent, who finished as runner-up in the 2024 British F4 Championship, is now on the brink of clinching the GB3 title. All eyes will be on Race 3 this afternoon at 16:22 local time (21:22 PKT), where Ninovic can seal the deal if he outscores second-placed Patrick Heuzenroeder by three points. Heuzenroeder, driving for Xcel Motorsport, remains mathematically in contention but faces an uphill battle.
The race wasn’t without drama, with Hitech TGR’s Deagen Fairclough chasing down Seewooruthun for second, settling for third, while Heuzenroeder fought his way to fourth. Hillspeed’s Lucas Fluxa and VRD’s Patricio Gonzalez rounded out the top six, with Gonzalez scoring his best result of the season. The tight pack action was captured brilliantly in photos by Jakob Ebrey, showing Ninovic’s fist-pump celebration and a champagne-soaked podium moment.
Ninovic’s rise continues to turn heads, backed by Rodin Motorsport’s impressive pedigree of over 500 race wins and 30 championship titles. Having impressed in Spanish F4 and British F4, the young gun’s karting roots in Australia are paying off on the global stage. Fans back home will be glued to the livestream, hoping to see him lift the trophy and cement his name as a future Formula 1 contender.
